Weaver Chapel Staff
Matevia Endowed University Pastors
Pastor Rachel Sandum Tune and Pastor Andy Tune have served as Wittenberg's University Pastors for over 16 years. Pastor Rachel grew up in Staten Island, NY, and Jackson, MN. She received her B.A. in Biology from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, and her M.Div. from Luther Seminary in St. Paul MN. Pastor Andy grew up in northern California, received a B.A. in English from University of California-Riverside, his M.Div. and M.Th. from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, and his Ph.D. from Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, in historical theology. The pastors met and married while at Luther Seminary, and have served in urban, rural, and suburban churches in Minnesota and Metropolitan DC, sometimes in shared calls and sometimes independently. In addition, Pastor Andy spent a year in a Singapore congregation for his internship. They have a son in college and a daughter who recently graduated from college.
Both pastors lead Sunday worship and weekday chapel, provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to students and others in the campus community, and are a resource for a wide spectrum of campus constituencies. In addition, Pastor Rachel advises Common Ground and Weaver Chapel Association, has taken service trips to Washington, DC and El Salvador, and works with various interfaith initiatives. Pastor Andy advises Lutheran Student Movement, facilitates the Pre-Theology Discussion group as well as faith and learning conversations, including the Sauer Symposium. Through the years, he has taught a WittSem course, "The Cosmos as seen by Science and Faith," and occasionally other courses such as "Luther and Lutheranism" and "World Christianity."
