Writing Rubric: A fairly extensive rubric used in a recent cross-institutional writing assessment of which Wittenberg was a part. Feel free to use or adapt this document in any way that might be useful in your classes. (For questions on the rubric, write Mike Mattison, director of the Writing Program.)
Writer's Reference: An interactive web page that corresponds to the handbook that Wittenberg students use in English 101. This site is a good place to send students whom you identify as having a skill deficiency in some specific area, and if you register yourself as an instructor on that page, you can receive updates on your students’ progress with these exercises. It’s a pretty useful and user-friendly tool for setting up some independent learning.
The Manifesto on Written Feedback: Created by the Writing Center at Columbus State University (in Georgia), this video offers students' thoughts on what makes for good comments on student papers.
Word Works: A a series of short essays about the teaching of writing.
The WAC (Writing Across the Curriculum) Clearinghouse: A wealth of articles and tipsheets for faculty about the teaching of writing, from how to organize peer review to how to sequence writing assignments.
