SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Presented by the Wittenberg Guild, the 51st annual Scholarship Style Show takes place Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Courtyard by Marriott- Springfield Downtown. Chaired by Suzanne Woeber, the event begins with a joint social hour and silent basket auction at 10 a.m.
The themed baskets are donated by members and friends of the guild. A one-week stay at a vacation home in Lake Lure, N.C., a “dream home” featured on HGTV, will be auctioned off as well.
The luncheon and style show begins at 11:30 a.m. Local volunteer models will don clothing from Macy’s at Tuttle Crossing, complemented with jewelry from Goldesign. The theme of the show is “New Beginnings,” and Lynn Jacques of Macy’s will narrate.
“The ‘New Beginnings’ refers to the emphasis through our new strategic plan on integrating Wittenberg more fully into the Springfield community and forging new ties with that community for the betterment of both,” said Linda Himes, coordinator for advancement and university liaison to the guild. “We want the guild to be part of relationship-building in the local community.”
The Wittenberg Guild is a women’s organization focused on promoting Wittenberg and utilizing its educational resources to enrich the local community, as well as awarding scholarships to students from Clark and surrounding counties who plan to attend the university. Through the years, the organization has raised more than $840,000 for scholarship support, campus landscaping, sculptures and artwork for the Benham-Pence Student Center, renovation of the Ann Miller Gallery in Koch Hall and pianos for Krieg Hall.
Prizes, including a pair of 14-carat earrings from Goldesign, dinner for two at Mela Urban Bistro paired with a night at the Courtyard by Marriott-Springfield Downtown, dinner for four in a pond-side gazebo, and a massage and facial from Mallia Salon and Day Spa, will be raffled off during the event.
