Wittenberg Ranked 13 On List Of Ohio Best Value Colleges And Universities By BestValueSchools.com

Springfield, Ohio – Of the many great choices for higher education in Ohio, Wittenberg University is rated high among the best. Wittenberg ranks No. 13 out of 30 Ohio Best Value colleges and universities according to an October 2015 website article on BestValueSchools.com.

BestValueSchools.com recently researched Ohio schools and ranked them based on four key points: graduation rate (weighted 30 percent), net price (25 percent), acceptance rate (30 percent) and the 20-year net return on investment (15 percent). Wittenberg earned 117.85 points out of 200. The Ohio State University claimed 164.22 points to earn the No. 1 spot.

According to the website, schools recognized in this top 30 prioritize both cost and quality in serving their students, and the rankings offer students a premier selection of universities to search for an Ohio education. Scores ranged from 91 to 164 among the 30 schools. The goal of BestValueSchools.com is to help students find schools that provide the best overall value for the educational dollar, the most available financial aid and assistance, the greatest support and services, and the highest return on investment in terms of post-graduation earnings.

Wittenberg scored high marks for its four-year graduation guarantee and the “Wittenberg Commitment,” a four-year plan that guides students through first-year seminars, personalized advising, active learning opportunities, and the “Wittfolio” that summarizes students’ progress and helps them build a résumé. Nearly 70 percent of students graduate on time at Wittenberg, and the average 20-year return on investment is north of $200,000.

Wittenberg University was also mentioned in a Dayton Business Journal article about PayScale’s list of the top graduate schools in the state. According to PayScale’s 2014-2015 College Salary Report ranking the best graduate schools in Ohio by salary potential, Wittenberg’s master’s program ranks No. 26 on the list.  Eighty-two percent of Wittenberg alumni surveyed indicated their work had “high meaning,” defined by PayScale as “work that makes the world a better place.”

Graduate school programs allow students to specialize in their field of study while boosting earning potential. Inclusion on such a ranking shows the strength of Dayton-area higher education.
