Accomplished People, Accomplished Lives

At the core of Wittenberg’s mission is a commitment to the development and education of the whole person. Charles Chatfield, professor emeritus of history, and Stanley Mickel, professor emeritus of foreign languages and literature and one of the founders of the university’s distinguished East Asian Studies program, carried out that mission in teaching, guiding and caring for generations of Wittenberg students. At recent memorial services for both, the Wittenberg community paused to celebrate the whole persons they were.

Celebrating the lives of Stanley L. Mickel II (1941-2014) & E. Charles Chatfield (1934-2015).
