Hey! Welcome to KAYAK CLUB! We're up and running, and providing classes periodically. See SCHEDULE for details on that.
We run a number of different kinds of classes, depending on availability of instructors and the pool and weather conditions on the river. But typically, we run two 2-hour classes, one in the pool, the second in the river. They are meant to be taken together and cost $30. This one-time fee, which we use entirely for upkeep of boats and equipment, besides the minimal few hours of training, also gets you a membership in the Kayak Club. A bit more experience is required to check boats out on your own, but more on that elsewhere.
Lately we've been running a one hour class, two students at a time, in the pool, and then gathering up 6 or 8 students for an introduction to the river, on the weekend or whenever most number of people can make it. (There's now a Pool Rule that we can have only 3 boats at a time in the deep end of the pool, during open swim time, hence the "two students at a time" described above--two beginners and an instructor.
Best way to keep up with this is email the President or the Faculty Advisor with questions, or check out the SCHEDULE link, which we try to keep updated, but no guarantees there. Pertinent entries there will have a date and time stamp on them.
