COVID-19: Temporary Travel Restrictions

Faculty and Staff

Official University-sponsored travel will be limited, and most University-sponsored travel is suspended until further notice.

  • University-sponsored travel to areas with CDC level 3 warnings is not permitted.
  • Those currently traveling internationally should register with the Department of State’s STEP program to ensure they receive up-to-date information and support.
  • Staff and faculty traveling before April 5 need permission from their senior staff representative.
  • Travel not yet scheduled, but planned, for any time before May 31 needs permission from their senior staff representative prior to scheduling.
  • Those cancelling trips should seek refunds as soon as possible. Many conferences, airlines, and hotels are providing extra flexibility at this time. Please contact Cathy McGorry at (937) 327-7009 or by email at cmcgorry@wittenberg.edu if you need further assistance working through these issues.
  • We strongly recommend all members of our community reconsider ANY PERSONAL travel plans to other countries and U.S. territories. If faculty or staff are traveling within the United States, they should check CDC guidelines and current conditions where they are traveling.
  • It is important to check the CDC and local agencies' information often. Because the COVID-19 situation is evolving rapidly, affected areas could issue new travel restrictions or guidance at any time and without prior notice, which could affect or interrupt your travel, or require self-quarantine when you return home.

Students

  • We strongly recommend students reconsider ANY PERSONAL travel plans to other countries and U.S. territories. If students are traveling within the United States, they should check CDC guidance and current conditions where they are traveling.
  • Students currently on a study-abroad program may stay in place, unless in-country circumstances change (e.g., CDC or host country advisories) or unless they wish to return. In accordance with CDC guidance for travelers returning from China, Italy, South Korea, Iran, or returning from any other country subsequently designated by CDC as Level 3 while traveling, please be aware that you will be required to self-quarantine — at your permanent address or otherwise away from Wittenberg's campus — for at least 14 days before returning to campus. The University cannot reimburse you for flight change costs and additional expenses.
