International Education Insurance Information

Wittenberg requires that international students, like all U.S. Students, have adequate medical insurance.

Wittenberg requires all international students to be automatically enrolled into our International Student Insurance plan, which is estimated to cost between $800-900 per year and will cover you while you are a student. Medical costs are very high in the U.S. and there is no national healthcare. If you should have an accident or need to go to a hospital, even a few days stay can cost you thousands of dollars.

However, if you are already covered by an existing insurance plan, the Wittenberg insurance can be waived. You must, however, prove equivalent coverage at or above these minimum levels:

  • Medical benefits of at least $100,000 per accident or illness
  • Repatriation of remains in the amount of $25,000
  • Expenses associated with the medical evacuation to home country in the amount of $50,000
  • Deductible not to exceed $500 per accident or illness

If you wish to waive the insurance, you will need to provide proof of the required coverage above in English.

Note: Insurance through ISEP is acceptable for ISEP students.
