Wittenberg University's Marine Science program offers many opportunities for field study, which are practical, hands-on experiences that often lead to more extensive collaborative research projects with faculty members. One of the most popular field study experiences takes place in The Bahamas.

Hi everyone! Welcome to our first student blog post! Our names our Andrew Tengen and Samuel Bott. Today we were able to embark on our first ocean snorkeling adventure to Grahams Harbor and Singer’s Point.

Time to call it quits. Sadly, today marks the last full day at the Gerace Research Center. It is a bittersweet feeling and most people wish that they could hide and stay. We woke up this morning focused and ready to go.

We landed in the Bahamas 21 days ago and tomorrow is the final exam. As the end draws near we find ourselves reminiscing on all the fun we have had since the very beginning.

Today marks the five day countdown. We won’t be seeing any more groups that come in and leave before us. Most of us are experiencing bittersweet feelings, but are enjoying the rest of our time here.

Today marks the 15th day on our adventure and the 13th morning we’ve had French toast. Another beautiful morning gave us time to go out into the field and gather data for our research projects.

Usually you can tell how long a group of students has been here by the number of bug bites on their legs.  However, yesterday’s rain brought a swarm of mosquitos and after today you would probably think that we’ve been here for months.&nbsp
