There are three levels of accessibility for videos and DVDs in Thomas Library's collection: unrestricted, restricted (library use only), and on reserve.

  • Unrestricted access -- Any student, faculty, or staff member can check out an unrestricted video or DVD Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm from the Audio Visual Services Desk. After 5pm and weekend pick up can be arranged by calling 327-7324 during the hours listed. After 5pm and weekend pick up is at the Circulation Desk. These videos and DVDs can be checked out for 7 days. Restricted access i.e. "library use only" pick up can be arranged by calling 327-7324 during the hours listed. After 5pm and weekend pick up is at the Circulation Desk.
  • Restricted access -- may be for one semester or long-term. Periodically, library staff will report to faculty members the titles which they have placed on restricted access. These lists should be reviewed and any items not needing to be restricted should be removed. As faculty members retire, their lists of restricted materials will be reviewed and items' status changed to "unrestricted". Any faculty member may restrict a video or DVD to "library use only" by contacting Rita Osborne at 327- 7326.
  • Videos and DVDs on reserve -- These videos and DVDs are available at the Circulation Desk. Students may check out reserve videos and DVDs for two or four hours and must view them in the library. Faculty members who wish to check out a video or DVD placed on reserve by another faculty member will need to first talk with that faculty member. To place a video or DVD on reserve, please refer to the section on Reserves in this guide.
