Indexes about 2000 periodicals -- both scholarly journals and popular magazines; covers 1986-Present, with some fulltext coverage starting in the early 1990s.
PAIS (Public Affairs information service) (1972-Present) Indexes articles, books, conference proceedings, government documents, book chapters, and statistical directories about public affairs.
Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO) CIAO publishes a wide range of scholarship from 1991 on that includes working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs, foundation-funded research projects, and proceedings from conferences. Also maps and abstracts.

Facts on File is issued weekly with news reprints that summarize the weeks events. The articles are usally substantial and relevant; frequently more useful than what you'll find in more popular weekly news media (Time, Newsweek, etc.)
Lexis-Nexis Universe 20 years of full text general, governmental & industrial news.
Congressional Universe Information and texts of current and past Congressional bills and news sources. See especially Hot Topics for news on highly-contested bill and issues.
World News Connection Was FBIS (Foreign Broadcast Information Service), which covers all areas of the world. Before August 1996, use FBIS: Central Eurasia (January 1992 - July 1996) or FBIS Soviet Union (January 1985-December 1991). Indexes for this are in Reference Older Indexes; text is on microfiche.
CNN News headlines and stories from the Cable News Network. Includes a fairly extensive archive of older stories. Including In-Depth Special Reports
