AbstractThe Beat Goes On is a collection of articles, essays, photographs, and art that focuses on the culture and history of the Beat generation. Based primarily in New York and San Francisco, the Beat generation refers to a group of American writers in the 20th century who questioned the status quo and pushed the boundaries of social expectations. This collection focuses on a variety of themes from the generation's literature and culture -- including sexuality, religion, gender, individuality, freedom, and censorship -- and how their beliefs have affected generations that followed. Ultimately, this series intends to reflect on the movement, consider its philosophy, and work to keep their messages alive in current culture so they may continue to inspire and change the lives of many to come.
