Update on Vaccine Pathway Eligibility

WITT Header

December 31, 2021

Wittenberg Community,

After careful consideration, the COVID-19 Response Team has updated those eligible for the Vaccine Pathway for the upcoming semester. All students and employees that are fully vaccinated, but not yet eligible for a booster can participate in the vaccine pathway for the upcoming semester. The COVID-19 Response Team expects all COVID-19 vaccinated individuals to receive their booster within one month of eligibility in order to stay in the vaccine pathway. As a reminder, the CDC recommends that everyone ages 18 years and older should get a booster shot at least six months after completing their primary COVID-19 vaccination series of Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna or two months after their initial J&J/Janssen vaccine or. Click here for CDC Recommendations for COVID-19 Booster Shots.

Please note that as of December 16, the CDC recommends that individuals receive an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine over Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine due to the latest evidence on vaccine effectiveness, vaccine safety and rare adverse events, and consideration of the U.S. vaccine supply.

To update your pathway, click COVID-19 Pathway, which will take you to the MyWitt portal. Once logged in, go to the MyAdmin tab, select Personal Information, then Biographical Update, and then Update COVID-19 Pathway.

  • Vaccination Pathway: Those individuals who are fully vaccinated and who provide information of their vaccination status are not required to participate in weekly testing. Boosters are required within one month of eligibility to remain in the vaccination pathway.
  • Weekly Testing Pathway: Those individuals who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be required to submit a COVID-19 test once a week (once every seven days) or participate in weekly testing provided by Wittenberg University.

Knowing how many of our community members are vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 will help us make decisions including testing frequency and when it might be possible to ease any of our mitigation strategies. You can update your pathway at any time. To be considered for the vaccine pathway for the first week of classes, we ask that you update your pathway by January 6.

We’re In This Together, and we thank you for doing your part to help our community.

Sincerely,

The COVID Response Team
