Frequently Asked Questions:
- I'm a recent graduate. If I order my transcript, will it include my degree information?
It depends - if you are requesting your transcript very close to your completion date, it is best to update the "Send Now" option to "Hold for Degree" so that the transcript is not sent before your degree has been conferred. We recommend selecting "Hold for Degree" for the month of your completion (e.g., all of May for spring graduates; all of August for summer graduates, and all of December for fall graduates) to ensure that your degree will appear on your transcript. If the “Hold for Degree” option is not selected and your degree was not conferred at the time of the order, the transcript will be sent out without your degree information. In that circumstance, you would need to request (and purchase) an updated copy of your transcript.
- I'm a recent graduate and I already have a Parchment Account. Can I keep using my Witt email for that account?
We recommend setting up your Parchment account with a personal email, as access to your Wittenberg email will expire roughly one year after graduation. If you forget your password for Parchment and are signed up with your Witt email, you may be locked out of your old account and need Parchment technical support to create a new one. If you already have a Parchment account set up, it is recommended that you explore the account options in Parchment to update your email to a personal account instead.
- I don't remember my student ID number. Do I need it to order a transcript?
No. If you don't know your ID number, you may enter the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number instead where prompted in the Parchment portal. If you don't know your ID number and don't have an SSN, enter 0's in the field to continue placing your order. We will contact you if we have issues locating your record.
- Do I need my student account login information to place an order?
No. Parchment will ask you to enter an email address to create an account if you do not already have one. This account is unrelated to your Wittenberg student account. We recommend using a personal email address, as Wittenberg email accounts expire after graduation or non-attendance.
- Can I order an unofficial transcript?
No. Wittenberg does not process unofficial transcripts; only official academic transcripts can be ordered.
Current students may view an unofficial transcript by logging into Self-Service (click the graduation cap on the left-hand menu, then select Unofficial Transcript).
Transcripts are only considered official for the first recipient. Once a paper transcript's envelope seal is broken, or an electronic transcript is downloaded, it is considered to be an unofficial copy and may be used wherever an unofficial copy is accepted.- My electronic transcript download link expired, can you resend my transcript?
No. The link for an electronic transcript is only active for 30 days after it has been received by the recipient. Please confirm with your recipient that the transcript has been accessed and saved before the link expires. If the transcript link has expired, a new request must be placed.
The PDF file may be password protected for security. To save an unofficial copy that is not password protected for your records, select Print, then Print to PDF to save the document as a new file.
