Wittenberg University Reaches Agreement With Community Mercy Health Partners

Springfield, Ohio – Wittenberg University and Community Mercy Health Partners (CMPH) have reached an agreement to enhance student health services on campus.

CMHP began operating the university’s on-site student health center on Feb. 1. The partnership combines traditional on-campus care with expanded access to hospitals, primary care and specialty physician practices, outpatient centers, urgent care, and a variety of outreach programs.

Students will continue to have access to the same high-quality health care services that have always been available.

“We are pleased to be able to join with Community Mercy Health Partners in providing new, expanded health services for our students,” said Interim President Dick Helton.

Two certified nurse practitioners, Erin A. Yontz, MS, CRNP and Trecia L. Narcelles, CNP, are familiar with college-level student care and will provide day-to-day oversight for on-campus diagnoses, treatment, and prescription services for common illnesses and injuries.

The Health Center will be a satellite office connected with the Springfield Regional Medical Group’s North Family Medicine under the direction of consulting physician, Bernadette de Guzman, MD, MPH.

“We’re very excited to be partnering with Wittenberg,” said Paul Hiltz, CMHP’s president and CEO. “We believe this agreement can pave the way for a much broader relationship to serve the campus and the community.”

Through the new partnership, students will have access to a broad range of premier providers to best serve their medical needs. Basic health needs will be met at the Health Center, and if additional attention is needed for more complex conditions during a student’s tenure at Wittenberg, the employees in the Health Center will connect them with the services through CMHP’s system of care.

If you have questions about this partnership or what it means for on-campus health care, please call 327-7806.
