Lesotho 2022: Day 7-8 Reflections

Farewell Ramabanta Lumela Molimo Nthuse! We will all miss the family we’ve gotten to know during our stay in Ramabanta but we’re ready to start all of our new projects. We have three different projects that the community has selected for us to work on in the two weeks that we’ll be here. Today we had a great reminder of the importance of the Basotho telling us what they need for the community and the necessity to be invited by a community. While we’re here, we have three different projects: repairing a community center that will sell handmade brooms and will offer pony trekking, building a kindergarten, and creating educational paintings in the primary school. Before we started work today, we were invited to the Chief of Molimo Nthuse’s house. She told us that it is tradition for any newcomers or people passing through to go to the chief and get permission so that is what she did for us. She welcomed us to Molimo Nthuse and walked with us to the worksites and stayed with us for a while as we started to fill the foundation of the kindergarten. We are all so excited to be able to work on these projects and get to know the Basotho of Molimo Nthuse.

Lots of love,
Maddy
