Wittenberg is pleased to announce that Gage Harner has been promoted to director of facilities at the University, effective immediately. In his new role, Harner will help direct efforts to enhance campus infrastructure, sustainability, and long-term planning initiatives.
“Since the former director’s departure in 2024, Gage has served in an enhanced role with distinction, demonstrating strong leadership, seeking operational knowledge, and a consistent commitment to maintaining a safe, efficient, and welcoming campus environment,” said Mary Beth Walter, chief human resources officer and associate vice president for administration. “This promotion reflects both Gage’s outstanding performance and the confidence the University places in his ability to guide the facilities team forward.”
Harner joined the Wittenberg community in 2021, first as a plumber. He was then promoted in 2022 to crafts (plumbing) foreman followed by an additional promotion to assistant director of facilities management and trades in 2024. As the new director, Harner will oversee campus facilities operations, facilities planning, all trades, grounds and custodial structures, along with strategic initiatives that support the University’s mission and long term growth.
“I look forward to working alongside Gage as we continue to develop our facilities management structure and, more importantly, our ongoing collaboration with all campus partners, contractors, and the community at-large,” Walter said.
Wittenberg’s Facilities Management team supports the mission of the University by providing quality planning, construction, cleanliness, and maintenance for facilities and grounds. The team also strives to provide a safe and welcoming environment in support of the University's mission.
