On Oct. 16, 2020, University Provost Michelle Mattson announced plans for academic instruction during the spring semester 2021, including significant modifications to the traditional academic calendar.
Spring semester 2021 will officially begin on Tuesday, Jan. 19, with the first-ever virtual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Convocation, featuring a presentation by civil rights advocate Ericka Huggins. The semester schedule does not include a traditional Spring Break, but three renewal days have been planned: Feb. 25, March 10, and April 27.
Fall Semester 2020 Recap
In-person classes resumed on Monday, Aug. 17, a week earlier than the originally scheduled date of Aug. 24. There was be no Fall Break, and on-campus instruction for fall semester ended November 24. The semester concluded with remote instruction and assessment after the Thanksgiving holiday.
Thanks to everyone, including faculty, staff, and students for their flexibility and willingness to work together to follow necessary health and safety protocols. We had a successful fall semester 2020, with only a two-week stoppage of in-person instruction.
