Lesotho 2026: Day 15

Today we had a guest speaker after breakfast, he was talking a lot about the history of Lesotho and how the missionaries that came impacted the country. The Basotho value their culture a lot. After the speaker, most of us headed out to the school we are painting and a few of us went out to the work site. I went to the school to paint but some of us also started on I believe the base for the playground we’ll be building. Today I helped finish up the microscope and made another fraction table for a classroom. We have officially finished one classroom and are very close to finishing a few more. Then, we left a little bit early to go to the community center. The kids were so nice and excited to see us. As soon as the kids saw us walking, they held our hands and walked us there. We played a variety of games! It was a really good day, and I loved meeting the kids at the community center.

Today was a great day of painting at the primary school! We were able to make significant progress in the classrooms, as each one now has some paint in it! I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished product.

At the school there were some local children hanging out with some of the workers. On my break, I went over and taught them some fun games and got to know each one of them! It was a bit difficult trying to communicate when they mostly spoke Sesotho, but I was able to show them what to do for each game anyway. I'm glad I was able to do that and connect with the community further.

After we got back from the site, we went to the community center in Ramabanta. The community center is where children receive their LNI meals, which is incredible. A few of us played games with the children, and it was so much fun! I hope I will be able to do it again before we leave for Kruger next week.
