Summer Orientation Sessions Prepare New Students for Living and Learning on Campus

Wittenberg will begin to welcome members of the incoming class of 2027 during several Destination Wittenberg: New Student Orientation sessions beginning in late June.

A critical part of the incoming student experience, Destination Wittenberg is a required new student orientation program designed to help first-year and transfer students begin to acclimate to life as a Wittenberg University scholar. The one-day programs begin with a check-in from 8:15-8:45 a.m. and conclude by 4:30 p.m. each day. Sessions will be held Thursday, June 22; Friday, June 23; Saturday, June 24; as well as Saturday, July 22, which includes a transfer student track.

“The program is designed to help students begin to make connections with their peers and learn valuable information about academics and student life at Wittenberg,” said Grace Sever, senior director of academic services and student success at the COMPASS: Sweet Success Center. “Students and families will attend sessions with Wittenberg faculty and staff to learn about campus resources.”

At the end of each orientation session, students and families can attend an engagement fair from 3 to 4:30 p.m. to celebrate the day, connect with many departments and offices on campus, discover more about what Wittenberg has to offer, and get all their outstanding questions answered. Any department wishing to participate needs to complete this short registration form by June 2.

“We are excited to welcome our incoming class and show our newest students the great things that Wittenberg has to offer,” Sever said. “The goal of these orientation sessions is to help students begin to build relationships with Wittenberg faculty and staff, and with each other.”

The sessions will also allow students to connect with their success advisors, become familiar with the campus community, and reaffirm their decision to attend Wittenberg University. The orientation schedule will include opportunities for incoming students to upload their Wittenberg ID photos, learn about academic policies, processes, and student services, understand their schedules, and review classroom expectations.

Fall 2023 admitted first-year and transfer students can register for an orientation session here. Please note that registration for Destination Wittenberg: New Student Orientation covers the scholar and up to three guests. There will be a $20 charge to your student account for each additional guest.
