Lesotho Blog 2025, Day 17 - Hiking

Lumela from Maseru y’all. Today we went on a hike at Thaba Bosiu and it was beautiful! We got a history lesson on the way up from Rosenberg and let me just say… if I had been hiking up that mountain at night, with weapons, while having rocks thrown down at me, I would not have made it. The mountains’ look is deceiving, not only is the hike more challenging than it seems, but the vastness on top of the mountain surprised me as well. The story of Moshoeshoe is one of immense power that I believe everyone should hear about. His character and ability to maintain peace while simultaneously protecting his village in times of chaos was remarkable. We got to see the caves today too which was a whole experience in itself, very interesting to say the least. This whole trip has been filled with once in a lifetime experiences, and I feel beyond blessed to be in this beautiful country experiencing them.
