SPARK

SPARK is an event featuring students, faculty/staff, and alumni who connect through conversation in sharing their explorations of these three core areas: Sharing Passion, Authenticity, and Responsible Knowledge. Speakers will share their connection to calling and talk passionately about knowledge they wish to pass on to others.

The University Honors Program will host an Open House for any returning University Honors Graduate alumni. Baseball Alumni Social

Baseball alumni are invited to the Wittenberg vs. Urbana game for a special reception. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Alumni will have access to the press box, locker room, and dugout throughout the game. No RSVP required.

We welcome back alumni to connect with current Chemistry and BMB students. Invited panelists usually share their experiences about their time at Wittenberg and about their life and careers after graduation. Most of the time is then spent answering questions from current students, faculty and staff. We welcome any alumni who are available to come and contribute their stories as well

The Biology Department invites all returning alumni to join us at a reception to meet our current students, catch up with old faculty members and meet new ones, and find out about all the great things happening in the department. Every year since the inaugural Athletics Hall of Honor in 1985, Wittenberg has continued to induct the finest student-athletes, coaches and administrators to this esteemed group of honorees who have excelled in their service to the university, either on the field of competition or behind the scenes, making possible everything our student-athletes accomplish. Live Band Karaoke
8:00–11:00 p.m.
Founders Pub, Benham-Pence Student Center
Combining the silly fun of karaoke with the energy of a live rock band, Live Band Karaoke allows anyone to fulfill their rock and roll fantasy. Singing is only half the fun! Watching others performing their unique renditions of rock’s greatest songs also contribute to the hilarity. Some singers really belt out the tunes, while others make up for a lack of singing ability with their stage presence. Either way, the irony and humor work on many levels as the band rocks out the songs true to the original recording. Band members can also contribute as back up vocalists and help out with the forgotten lyrics. Live Band Karaoke provides lyric sheets for any song on the list. The lyrics are printed in large type so they are easier to read while singing. There are tons of songs to choose from covering all areas of rock and roll providing something for everyone.

Join us to honor the memory of former Wittenberg Women’s Basketball Head Coach Pam Evans Smith with the annual Pam Evans Smith Memorial 5K. All proceeds will benefit the Pam Evans Smith Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to a senior woman who exemplifies high levels of leadership, good character, integrity, volunteerism, and scholastic achievement. Register by September 23.

It’s a big year for the Hagen Center!  2018 marks 30 years since the Community Service Program began at Wittenberg and 10 years since the Hagen Center first opened its doors.  Join current and former Hagen Center staff, community partners, community service coordinators, and Hagen Center interns for a celebration of partnership between Wittenberg and Greater Springfield.

The Rev. Sherman Hicks, Wittenberg Class of 1968 will preach. Join the service for Holy Communion and music from the Wittenberg Choir.  
*Following his M.Div. from Hamma Seminary, Pastor Hicks has served in numerous roles in first the Lutheran Church in America, and then the ELCA, including as executive director of ELCA Multicultural Ministries and bishop of the ELCA Metropolitan Chicago Synod, as well as pastoring congregations in Washington, DC, New Jersey, and New York.

Wittenberg Night at the Symphony

  • At the Witt Night at the Symphony on Saturday evening, October 6, the Symphony will present a program featuring Wittenberg’s own, Chris Durrenberger, Professor and Chair of the Music Department. Contact the Clark State Performing Arts Center Box Office at 937-328-3874 to purchase your tickets. Be sure to mention that you are a member of Wittenberg University family.
