Please join us as we recognize and acknowledge that Wittenberg University was built on the Indigenous homelands of the good and many people of the Shawnee (shaw-NEE), Miami (Mee-AHM-ee), and other Iroquoian (EER-ruh-kwo-uhn), Siouian (SOO-uhn), and Algonquian (al-GON-ki-an) bands. Today, as we gather, we recognize that this land was acquired from native indigenous people using systems of coercion and policies of expulsion and assimilation. We acknowledge these communities, their elders, past, present and future generations. We seek to understand this history and are committed to healing, justice, and education.
