Class of 2020 Parents Message

We are celebrating the Class of 2020 in several ways, including:

Also please enjoy this special communication from Denice Hoendorf '91, proud parent of two graduates, one of whom is a member of the Class of 2020.

Denice HoendorfDear Parents,

As the parent of a 2020 Wittenberg University graduate, I am sharing your disappointment in missing out on all of the traditional, end-of-senior-year activities and celebrations. As a staff member at Wittenberg, I can tell you we all have missed having your students on campus, where they should have been creating memories of their final spring semester.

Our children left for spring break, excited and happy about their plans for the week. They came home...to a quarantine. They were not able to say goodbye to the friends, faculty, and staff who were “family” during their college years.

As parents, we are sad that we cannot celebrate them in Commencement Hollow this weekend, as originally scheduled, but we know that one event can never detract from their time at Wittenberg. This special place changed them into confident global citizens who know how to Tiger Up and how to lead with compassion, creativity, service, and integrity.

While Wittenberg is planning for an on-campus Commencement ceremony to take place on Oct. 10, it is important to recognize our seniors’ achievements now – before these young people begin their careers, graduate school, or serve our country.

We congratulate our seniors who have worked hard to achieve their goals. We congratulate the parents and families who have supported the Class of 2020. And we thank you for your part in helping our students reach this important milestone.

Sincerely,

Denice Hoendorf ’91, P’18, P’20
Director of Admission for Operations & Communications
