Student-Driven Initiatives

Student-Run, Student-Led

Tiger Ventures is a student-run, student-led organization with two components: the Individual Business Unit (smoothies, coffee, and more to come) and the Parent/Holding Company. Since we are entirely managed and run by students, all revenue streams and individual business units will function as and within the context of a business and will be talked about using that vernacular. All the dollars generated by Tiger Ventures go back to fund Tiger Ventures, and any profitability that is generated either goes back to grow/re-invest in Tiger Ventures or becomes Tiger Dollars as a part of the Wittenberg University financial infrastructure.

Ensuring Real-World Experience

Our organizational chart below resembles one found in business operations around the globe. We believe it’s imperative to provide positions and job responsibilities that mirror the outside world, as well as create connections to and with businesses operating locally and throughout Ohio, and even beyond to give students every opportunity to learn the fundamentals of business.

Developing Students for Success

We are a live exercise, using live data, and live people to learn the language of business, as well as how to navigate relationships, how to run a business, and how to function in the larger society.

How do we accomplish this?

  • Lookalike Titles: We structure our job descriptions, as well as position responsibilities and titles to mirror the outside world, leading to the potential of deeper summer internships and better outside jobs upon graduation.
  • Access to Financials: Students at every level of the organization have access to and regularly convene on everything from balance sheets and profit-and-loss statements to cash flow forecasts so that everyone, at every level, understands the language and lifeblood of business.
  • Team Culture and Atmosphere: We believe this is the most important part of every organization, so we want to model that in each operation.
  • Part-Time Work: We have overstructured the organization so that 18-hour work weeks means any student can have a role in Tiger Ventures, or its business units and still take part in all the rest of life that college has to offer.
  • Working at the Cadence of Business: We have meeting rhythms, regular reporting, retreats, recognition, promotion, anniversaries, and holiday gatherings.
  • Earn Money: We have a multitiered pay band structure, combining both hourly and salary positions.
  • Experiential Tie-In: Tiger Ventures is real world experience within the setting of Wittenberg, and through it, students can also fulfill the experiential learning component of the University’s Connections Curriculum.
