CCUE 100 Civic Engagement through Service: Summer Session Advising
CCUE 100 is offered during the summer semester as an option for students looking for an alternative option for completing their Civic Engagement (CE) requirement or to utilize this course for an additional EXPR.
Students are encouraged to fulfill their Civic Engagement requirement during the fall or spring semester whenever possible. Students who struggle to integrate CE into their schedules are encouraged to consider CE designated courses and FIRE Week as options prior to enrolling in this course.
General information about the summer experience
- The course runs from late May until the first week of August. Students can complete service anytime during these dates.
- Students have the flexibility to either serve within Springfield or in their home community at sites that are approved through our self-design proposal process.
- Service site options may differ from the academic year based on availability
- Certain opportunities (such as gardening, outdoor work, athletic coaching, camps) are readily available, and we encourage students to consider these options.
- Students taking the summer session should expect to take on additional responsibility for communication and management of the experience with their partner organization.
