HWA Community Impact

An Investment in the Future

Wittenberg University's picturesque campus is situated just a few blocks from downtown Springfield. For more than 170 years, the University has been intertwined with the city it calls home, and recent studies estimate that Wittenberg has a $70 million impact on the local economy.

Springfield and Wittenberg are solid partners and share regularly in each other's success. Wittenberg faculty, staff, and students perform thousands of hours of community service each year, and students participate in numerous internships with local companies and organizations. Wittenberg graduates are also prominent figures in every corner of the local community.

The Health, Wellness & Athletics restoration and expansion initiative is an important next step in the relationship between Wittenberg, Springfield, and the broader region. Few cities anywhere can boast of a college athletics complex with such an expansive set of facilities, all of which will be utilized for partnerships with local and regional schools, organizations, businesses, and activities.
