Martin Luther Scholar Award

Located in Springfield, Ohio, Wittenberg University has been proud of its long-time affiliation with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Today, the 1,200 students who attend this national liberal arts University aim to discover their callings and serve humanity.

For the 2026-2027 academic year, Wittenberg will award the Martin Luther Scholar Award to Lutheran students of any Lutheran denomination who are entering Wittenberg as first-year students and who are nominated by their pastor using the form below. Each scholarship provides opportunities for recipients to experience personal and spiritual growth during their time at Wittenberg. This award is in addition to the merit scholarship that students will receive based on their academic achievements.

This scholarship initiative aims to reward outstanding Lutheran students with a $20,000 academic award ($5,000 per year for four years) and to give them an exceptional opportunity to continue their education at Wittenberg, one of the 28 ELCA-related colleges and universities.

To qualify, students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5, be an active member of a Lutheran congregation, and be accepted for admission to Wittenberg.
