Communication Senior Salute 2017 - Bobbie Clayton

"The Comm department is a welcoming place; I look forward to going to class because of the people."

Bobbie Clayton has been an active member within the Comm department over her four years at Wittenberg. Originally from Greenwood, Indiana, Clayton visited the Comm department as a prospective student. "I scheduled a meeting with Dr. Cunningham and she eased my mind and explained the Comm major to me." When starting her career at Wittenberg, Clayton declared a Communication major and Business minor, "I could just see myself being a Comm major." One thing Clayton admires about the Comm department is the bonds, not only between students, but between students and teachers as well, "The Comm department is a welcoming place; I look forward to going to class because of the people."

In her years at Witt, Clayton has been involved in many other activities besides being a Comm major. She has been a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C) and the women's basketball team at Witt, as well as the lead representative for Team Impact which aims to pair children battling life-threatening or chronic illnesses with collegiate sports teams who support them as part of the team. Apart from this, she also found time to work for Integrated Media Corps (IMC) as an intern and is currently working on producing a video for some of the academic departments around campus. "[Comm] really sparked my interest in IMC."

As Clayton's time at Wittenberg comes to a close, she wants to leave advice for Comm majors after her: "Choose classes you're interested in because you'll get a lot more out of them. Also, make sure you utilize your professors outside of class because they are personable and willing to work with you or help you out if you need it." We would like to thank Clayton for her membership to the Comm department and wish her luck for the future.
