Sachith Dassanayaka teaches statistics and data science courses for both major and non-major students. He completed his Ph.D. in mathematics with a concentration in statistics at Texas Tech University in the summer of 2022 and an M.S. from the same institution in 2019. Previously, he received a B.S. in computer science from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka in 2015.
Sachith worked on artificial intelligence algorithms for activity pattern detection in the information operation networks for his Ph.D. dissertation. In addition to expanding upon those projects, his current research interests include analyzing disinformation campaigns on social media using machine learning and NLP, data visualization, machine intelligence, and computer networks and security.
Sachith likes to play badminton and chess outside of teaching and advising students. Further, he enjoys traveling, playing pool, and watching movies.
