Hagen Center: Student Opportunities

The Hagen Center for Civic and Urban Engagement offers a variety of invaluable educational and professional development opportunities to students during their pursuit of a degree at Wittenberg University.

Community Service

Civic Engagement Through Service provides students an introduction to civic engagement through a semester-long service experience. The course emphasizes making connections between new knowledge and community experiences; understanding civic identity and commitment; and reflecting on the value of diversity in communities.

Summer Civic Internship Program

The Hagen Center’s Civic Internship Program is a paid internship program that runs every summer from the last week in May through the end of July. The program combines an internship with opportunities to engage with local leaders and to network with Wittenberg alumni. The program helps students develop skills and knowledge to be active and engaged citizens. They will learn from local leaders how communities work towards collective goals and how the work they do in their internship contributes to the building of a stronger community.
