Degree Requirements:

Major in Religion

Students must take eight four-credit courses, including at least three at the 300-level and Religion 498: Senior Capstone. Students are also required to take Religion 112 or 114 or 134, 221 or 222, and 241, in addition to one course from two of the following groups:

  • Group 1 (History of Religions): 333, 335, 336, 339
  • Group 2 (Biblical Studies): 321, 324, 326, 327
  • Group 3 (Religious Ethics): 342 or 378

With advance permission of the chair, one related course in another department may be counted toward the major.

Minor in Religion

A minor in religion consists of five courses including at least one at the 300-level, in addition to one course from each of the following groups:

  • Group 1 (History of Religions): 112, 114, 134, 213, 333, 335, 336, 339
  • Group 2 (Biblical Studies): 121, 122, 222, 321, 324, 326, 327
  • Group 3 (Religious Ethics and Christian Thought): 177, 241, 342, 378
