Dear Alumni,

As members of the Alumni Board, we serve as a liaison for the University. In our role, we engage and connect with the alumni body to further Wittenberg’s mission and vision. We work in partnership with the University through the Advancement Division and have been thrilled to see engagement through the Alumni Chapters, Commit to Witt day, reunions, and homecomings. We hope that you received the recent Wittenberg Magazine, which shared good news about our graduates and students and noted that 2020 marks the 175thanniversary of Wittenberg University.

We know that last Friday’s news from President Frandsen caused great concern. We feel that, too. Our alma mater is undergoing an urgent but not panicked challenge.

We are so proud to see the care for, love of, and desire to support Wittenberg through the flurry of activity online among our alumni community! We see you working to organize meet and greets with each other, crunching the numbers to figure out how we’ll raise the funds Wittenberg needs to thrive, and, yes, giving that Cyber Wrap the recognition it truly deserves.

We all love Wittenberg and want to ensure that the next 175 years – and well beyond – are just as amazing for future Tigers. To accomplish that, here are some ways that we can join together to support Wittenberg.

Give

Contributing to any and all funds helps Wittenberg now. Click here to give. Every gift counts equally toward increasing our alumni giving participation rate. The higher the participation rate, the stronger the message we send about Wittenberg’s strength and the satisfaction of alumni, parents, faculty, and staff in the liberal arts experience that defines us.

Commit to Witt

Speaking of the alumni giving percentage, we have a HUGE opportunity to knock this out of the park on March 11 during our annual Commit to Witt day. We still need Commit to Witt Ambassadors. You can sign up on the site today and get on the list for the training call on February 25. If you cannot make the call, that’s okay; we’ll send it to you in an email. Ambassadors make a considerable difference in giving days by texting, emailing, calling, and posting on social media to encourage fellow alumni and friends to support Witt. Sign up here or make your gift early.

Host a Conversation

Email Assistant Vice President for Advancement and alumnus Andrew G. Steele to secure your date to host an event and be a part of the upcoming excitement of the public launch of the comprehensive campaign in your area.

Refer Students

Sending us names of prospective students and speaking highly of your own Wittenberg experiences with them help considerably in our recruitment efforts. To refer a student, click here.

The most powerful ways we can support our alma mater right now are through the above actions and by encouraging our fellow alumni to do the same. We thank you in advance for your generosity, as it will enable Wittenberg to continue to provide the caliber of education for which it has been known for 175 years.

Sincerely,

Your Wittenberg Alumni Board

P.S. For the last year, you have seen some of our bios in this monthly Tiger Tales communication, but we have never written to you formally. To help put some faces and names with the Alumni Board, we encourage you to visit our page here.

P.P.S. If you have not received a magazine or postcard from Witt in a while, be sure to update your information here.

#Commit2Witt

As Wittenberg celebrates 175 years of passing light on to others this year, an annual tradition will continue the birthday theme. Commit to Witt, the University's 24-hour day of giving, is fast approaching. Sign up to be a social media ambassador, wear Witt gear, and make your gift on March 11, the actual day of the University's founding back in 1845. This year's goal: $175,000 to support every aspect of the student experience.

Engage With Wittenberg

Wittenberg alumni can make a difference in so many ways, from career networking to cheering on Tiger teams to referring prospective students to making a financial contribution.
