A Message from the Vice President for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement,

It is a privilege to join the Wittenberg community at such a pivotal moment in the University’s history. To assume this role alongside President Brady, campus colleagues, and the many alumni and friends who dedicate their time and expertise is both humbling and inspiring. Together, we have the opportunity to advance Wittenberg’s mission and ensure that future generations of students continue to benefit from its transformative education.

Today, Wittenberg finds itself in a time of challenge and opportunity. Yet, walking across campus, I am struck by the sense of vitality and promise that defines this special place. The enthusiasm of our students — in the classroom, on the playing fields, and in countless activities — serves as a reminder of the enduring strength of this institution. I am deeply grateful for the warm welcome I have received, and I am proud to be a part of this vibrant community now.

The long tradition of philanthropy and engagement has been central to Wittenberg’s success. The loyalty, generosity, and commitment of our alumni and friends are extraordinary, and it is clear that this dedication has sustained the University for generations. Wittenberg graduates distinguish themselves in their professions and communities, and their pride in their alma mater is evident and encouraging.

As I begin this work, I look forward to meeting many of you in the weeks and months ahead — whether at Homecoming, Reunion, and Family Weekend later this month, the presidential Inauguration in October, or other gatherings throughout Ohio and across the country. Each of these occasions provides an important opportunity to celebrate our shared commitment to Wittenberg’s future.

Please know that my team and I stand ready to assist and to partner with you. Together, we can honor Wittenberg’s remarkable legacy while ensuring its continued vitality for the years ahead.

Michael McGreevey With Gratitude,

Michael R. McGreevey
Vice President for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement

Oral History Project GraphicOral History Project: Martey Schaper Rhine ’70

Martey Schaper Rhine ’70 considers her Wittenberg experience one of the most memorable of her life. She was one of two women majoring in business at the time. Two professors – Dr. Woodrow Wilson and Professor Ray Diggle – made a big impact on her. Her liberal arts education gave her a breadth of exposure to different facets of the world, and she learned to think more broadly. We’re grateful to alumni like Martey who have supported Wittenberg throughout the years with a gift to the University. To join her in supporting Wittenberg, make a gift today.
