Vacation Policy

Administrative Staff

The vacation plan is designed to support the general well being of university employees and, therefore, the university expects and encourages all employees to take all of their accrued vacation time. Administrative staff members are allocated 25 days of vacation per calendar year. In the first and last year of employment, vacation is prorated from the date of hire or termination at a rate of 2.08 days per month. New employees are eligible to begin utilizing available vacation time after three months of employment.

Hourly Staff

Vacation hours are determined by years of service. The following table outlines the amount of vacation per years of service:

2080 Annual Hours: 80 hours
1920 Annual Hours: 73 hours
1760 Annual Hours: 67 hours
1560 Annual Hours: 60 hours

Years of Service: 7-13
2080 Annual Hours: 120 hours
1920 Annual Hours: 110 hours
1760 Annual Hours: 100 hours
1560 Annual Hours: 90 hours

Years of Service: 14-19
2080 Annual Hours: 160 hours
1920 Annual Hours: 147 hours
1760 Annual Hours: 133 hours
1560 Annual Hours: 120 hours

Years of Service: 20 or more
2080 Annual Hours: 200 hours
1920 Annual Hours: 165 hours
1760 Annual Hours: 151 hours
1560 Annual Hours: 135 hours

It is important to note that years of service are calculated by using the number of completed service years an employee will have in any given calendar year. The above table illustrates vacation time based on standard annual hours worked. All vacation leave is prorated based on the actual number of hours in pay status each year.
