Current Wellness Initiatives:

YOGA: Spring Yoga Session with Sunflower Yoga

This yoga session will run for 12-weeks and classes will be led by Certified Yoga Instructor, Becky Smiddy, from Sunflower Yoga. Additional information and links to the required waiver forms and sign-up genius are below. We look forward to seeing you there!

  • DATES: Classes meet every Tuesday & Thursday beginning Thursday, March 14th and ending Thursday, May 30th
  • TIMES: 12 noon – 12:45pm (classes begin promptly at noon and will last approx. 45 minutes)
  • LOCATION: Recitation Hall, Hiller Chapel
  • COST: FREE! As part of the 2024 wellness benefit, the participation cost is covered.
  • EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Classes are tailored to all levels, beginner to experienced. All levels are welcome!
  • WHAT TO BRING: Yoga mat & water bottle. If you have yoga props such as a block, bolster, blanket, or strap feel free to bring them along.
  • WAIVER FORMS: Participants must complete the two waiver forms (linked below) & return to HR prior to the first day of participation or bring completed forms with you to your first class. We will also have waivers available to complete at each class.
  • SIGN-UP: Please RSVP through the Sign-up Genius so we can gauge the approximate participation level for this session. Even if you can’t make every individual class, we still ask that you RSVP for the overall session.
  • PRIZES: Yoga related prizes will be raffled off during random classes throughout the session! Prizes valued over $25 are considered taxable income
  • Add the session to your Outlook Calendar by double-clicking the “Spring Yoga Session.ics” attached. You may receive a Microsoft Outlook Security Notice because of the file type. Since it is coming from Wittenberg, this is safe to add. If you would like to continue adding it to your calendar, click “Yes”. If not, click “No” and create an appointment on your Outlook calendar.

MARCH DIY CHALLENGE: Design your own wellness challenge!

Choose or create a 31-day challenge that is unique to your wellness needs. Some examples are:

  • Digital Detox Challenge
  • Self-care Challenge
  • Mental Health Challenge
  • Fitness Challenge
  • Hydration Challenge
  • Sustainability challenge – trash pickup/recycle
  • Spring cleaning/declutter
  • Healthy Habit Building – taking the stairs, adequate sleep, positive thoughts, etc.
  • Smoking Cessation (consider the MercyREACH Tobacco Cessation program to help get started – flyers can be found here: Microsoft Teams > Faculty & Staff Team > Human Resources Channel > Files > Forms and Documents > Benefit Forms & Documents > Wellness)
  • Step Challenge
  • Search google/Pinterest for other ideas – blank calendar attached if you would like to create your own challenge!

Turn in your completed wellness challenge sheet to schlaker@wittenberg.edu by April 3rd to be entered in the wellness prize drawing at 11:30am on April 4th.
