CrowdWittenberg is excited to announce that the 2021-22 fundraising year was one of the most successful in modern times. With the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2022, Wittenberg’s total giving to the University was $14,719,090.83, the highest on record in recent history. This includes pledges, planned gifts, and cash gifts.

Helping to Transform

Mike FrandsenPresident Michael L. Frandsen, Ph.D., is currently serving on the advisory group of the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges, where he and his colleagues are working on a collaborative project examining the board’s role in overseeing institutional business models.

Welcome Aboard

Tracy Paschke-JohannesThe Reverend Tracy Paschke-Johannes, chaplain with Hospice of Cincinnati and currently serving Epiphany Lutheran Church in Dayton, Ohio, for spiritual care needs, has been named the Rev. David and Carol Matevia Endowed University Pastor.

Amanda McLellanAmanda McLellan, assistant director for discovery and technology at East Carolina University, in Greenville, North Carolina, recently began her new role as director of Wittenberg’s Thomas Library, which continues to transform into an academic learning commons.

Hall of Honor Class of 2022

Hall of Honor InducteesMatt Borland ’09, Amy Cox ’11, Linda Iantuono Finn ’96, Paco Labrador, Ryan Taylor ’01, Eddie Vallery ’11, and John Paoloni ’74 will officially join nearly 300 other Wittenberg greats who have previously been inducted into the University's Athletics Hall of Honor. In addition, Pat O’Conner ’80 becomes the eighth recipient of the Athletics Hall of Honor Lifetime Achievement Award, and two “Teams of Distinction” will be celebrated, the 1964 and 1969 Tiger football teams.

Excellence in Liberal Arts

Phi Beta Kappa LogoWittenberg University’s Phi Beta Kappa chapter recently marked its 30th anniversary as the prestigious honor society inducted a new class of members who have achieved outstanding academic excellence in the liberal arts and sciences.

Mike De MassimoMike De Massimo ’99, with the support of his spouse, Bethany Schlater '04, has turned his family’s homemade Italian sauces into a successful entrepreneurial venture, De Massimo’s Authentic Sauces and Imports, located in Columbus, Ohio.

Miriam Weber BrownMusic teacher and professional harpist Miriam Weber Brown ’68 was named the 2022 Ohio Nationally Certified Music Teacher of the Year by the Ohio Music Teachers Association.
