Todd Rappold joined Wittenberg University’s Department of Education in August 2025. Todd teaches undergraduate and graduate courses.
Rappold says, "Forty years ago I was a student who was struggling in high school, both academically and behaviorally. I was blessed to have supportive teachers who helped me gain perspective and set goals that would forever change the course of my life. For the next 35 years I have aspired to do the same with the students and teachers I have had the pleasure of working with each and every day to pay it forward and assist those around me in three different school districts.
"I encourage students to learn through various experiences and reconstruct new ideas," he adds. "I integrate the curriculum with themes, integrated units, project-based works, group work, individual work, pair work and providing active learning through hands-on activities. The goal is to always learn and improve. A person who never made a mistake never learned anything new."
Prior to coming to Wittenberg, Rappold was a school superintendent for nearly 20 years, a middle school principal, athletic director, coach, and taught in the Springfield City School District. He retired with more than 34 years in public education in the state of Ohio.
In addition, he has been an adjunct professor at Ashland University and the University of Dayton. Rappold also works with the Upper Valley Career Center as the Emerging Leader Instructor. Todd teaches Emerging Leaders Course focusing on Leadership, Team Building, Change Management, and Conflict Management.
In his spare time, Rappold officiates high school volleyball and college track and field. He enjoys reading, fly fishing, and traveling with his wife Becky.
