Marie Bashaw’s background as a nursing director in an acute care hospital, coupled with her education and practice as an RN, prepared her well for the role of program director. Her interests include preparing the next generation of caring, competent, collaborative nurses, using evidence-based practice, to facilitate the transition of nursing students to the role of a generalist registered nurse.

Dr. Bashaw is a Professor of Nursing at Wittenberg University. She has served in numerous nursing education leadership and faculty positions over the past 10 years. Dr. Bashaw is a recognized author and subject matter expert in nursing. Dr. Bashaw is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the Association of PeriOperative Room Nurses, the Ohio Organization of Nurse Leaders, the Ohio Organization of Deans and Directors, and the Dayton Area Nurse Educators.

Dr. Bashaw earned a DNP in Nursing Administration from Wright State University/University of Toledo; a Master’s degree in Nursing Administration from Wright State University; a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the State University of New York at Binghamton, and two teaching certifications, one from Wright State University and the other from Thomas Edison University. Her clinical practice has included perioperative nursing, education, and nursing administration. At Wittenberg, Dr. Bashaw is the program director for the Nursing department.

Dr. Bashaw’s favorite roles are that of sister and friend. Dr. Bashaw particularly enjoys sports, especially watching her students at their sporting events. When she isn’t busy at Wittenberg University she is home hanging out with her cats, Silver Boots and Reese Cup. (Did I mention that Dr. B loves chocolate!)
