Seasonal Music Opportunities

Private lessons are available in piano, organ, orchestral strings, guitar (acoustic and electric), hammered and mountain dulcimer; wind instruments: flute, piccolo, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, and all percussion instruments; voice, and Suzuki violin and piano. Beginning ukulele lessons are also available upon request.

2018 Classes

BEGINNING PIANO FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS (ages 6-9)
First piano lessons in a small group setting. students will learn to read music and musical notation, find keyboard land-marks, and play rhythms. Students will play music of increasing challenge in our state-of-the-art piano lab. Students should purchase the “Faber Piano Primer Book.” Class size is limited. When the student completes the class they will advance to individualized, private lessons.

Dates: Saturdays January 20, 27,and February 3, 10, 17, 2018
Time: 1:00 pm to 1:30pm
Place: Krieg Hall Room 301 Cost: $55 (includes registration fee)

BEGINNING PIANO FOR OLDER STUDENTS (ages10 and up)
Older students will learn the fundamentals of piano performance: proper hand position, basic rhythmic values, and music notation, including on-staff notation, as well as develop confidence to play new songs on their own. No piano playing or musical experience is required.Students should purchase “The Accelerated Piano Adventures by Faber, Book One (for the older beginner)” When the student completes the class they will advance to individualized, private lessons.

BEGINNING ZITHER(LAP HARP) FOR ALL AGES
A lap harp is a wooden, 15 string instrument. It is also known as a zither. Anyone Can Play! Younger children to seniors enjoy playing the lap harp.
Brand of Zithers to buy online (have not found them in area music stores): Music Maker, TK O'Brien, Small World Toys, Melody Harp, Yerbonits The website to get the book used in the class is World of Harmony Music.com We will be beginning with the book called " Childs Play" by Debbie Center. This is a beginner book for adults and children.

LATE STARTERS' ORCHESTRA
Did you start playing a musical instrument when you were young and would like to play again? Did you start taking lessons as an adult and have wanted to play in a musical ensemble? Would you like to improve your playing of a musical instrument? The Late Starters Orchestra is for you!! The group will accept high school musicians and any adult musician who want to be in an ensemble, a fun and challenging experience. The orchestra will continue with a second session.

Dates: Wednesday evenings January 10 to March 7, 2018
Time: 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Place: Krieg Hall Room 302
Cost: $100 includes registration

WITTENBERG TINY TIGERS (DISCOVERING MUSIC FOR YOUNG CHILDREN) AGES 1-6
Coming Spring April 2018. Check back in a couple months for details.

BEGINNING UKULELE, DULCIMER, HAMMERED DULCIMER , GUITAR, PERCUSSION LESSONS AND CLASSES will be offered if requested.

THE BAYLEY SUMMER MUSIC ACADEMY
Coming June 11-15, 2018 with a registration deadline of May 1-- For music students grade 3 and up who have completed a year of lessons and/or music group experience.
